Project Mercury Gallery
Located next door to the Project Mercury gallery, the Project Gemini exhibit shows off the next generation of astronauts, engineers, and mission control specialists. This training simulates the tumble that astronauts experience when flying an aircraft or spacecraft. In this experience, participants ride on suspended chairs that rotate inside three rotating rings.
In addition to the Multi-Axis Trainer, you can also try out the G-Force Accelerator simulator, which simulates astronauts’ experience. Another simulator is called the Moon Shot, which simulates the launch of a rocket. The museum also offers flight simulators, such as the F-18 Super Hornet, which allows visitors to fly and control an airplane.
Space Shuttle Launch Control Center consoles
The American Space Museum’s Space Shuttle Launch Control Center features NASA engineers monitoring critical functions of the shuttle and other spacecraft. Visitors can play a variety of games in the simulator, and learn how to control the systems. These games are highly realistic and feature a 21-console control panel.
